Viber Replaces MongoDB with Couchbase
Amir Ish-Shalom, System Architect at Viber, needed to support an application that had billions of messages and talking minutes per month. Realizing MongoDB couldn’t scale, his team at Viber re-architected their backend and chose Couchbase. In doing so, he increased performance using less than half the database servers of MongoDB + Redis. Now with Couchbase, Amir and the Viber team have a backend that will scale to support their exponential growth while still maintaining top-notch performance.
